Vacancy Details for IUCN Job Circular 2026:
Education
- -8 to 10 years’ professional experience, of which 5 years are in the managerial position and relevant to the terms of reference.
- -Master’s degree in environmental science, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Climate Change, Ecology, Wildlife Biology, Environmental Studies, or other closely related disciplines from reputed university
- -Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree, provided it is supplemented by at least two (02) additional years of relevant professional experience at progressively responsible levels.
- -Strong academic track record with demonstrated ability to apply scientific and technical knowledge to programme design, implementation, and policy-oriented work.
Training and Experience
- -Minimum 8–10 years of progressive professional experience in forest management, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, climate change adaptation/mitigation, or related environmental fields, with at least 5 years in a managerial, coordination, or senior technical role.
- -Demonstrated experience in project and programme management, including planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and budget oversight, preferably within international NGOs, UN agencies, or donor-funded projects.
- -Proven technical expertise in one or more of the following areas including forest and ecosystem restoration, climate change adaptation and ecosystem-based approaches (EbA), biodiversity conservation and sustainable natural resource management, Nature-based solutions and climate resilience programming.
- -Strong experience working with government counterparts, donors, development partners, research institutions, and community stakeholders.
- -Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, guide multidisciplinary teams, and ensure quality assurance of technical outputs, studies, and knowledge products.
- -Experience in donor engagement, proposal development, and results-based reporting, preferably with bilateral or multilateral donors.
- -Sound understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks and use of indicators for adaptive management.
- -Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex and evolving programmatic contexts.
- -Experience in producing timely reports, manage budgets and assist in communication related activities.
- -High standards of professional integrity, accountability, and commitment to IUCN’s values, including gender equality and inclusive approaches.
- -Proficiency in standard office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with project management and reporting tools is required.
